Hi, I'm Dena!

Professional Counseling Intern (PC-Intern)

Life can present as a compass going in various directions. With so many options, I understand how complicated it can be to find the right direction for your desired outcome. So I believe in holistic healing, which considers everything contributing to your decision making. This includes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual parts of you and how healthy these areas are enables you to function. The truth is that you are enough to matter and always have been, and I’m here to help you uncover this reality.

My philosophy of counseling is based on showing grace and empathy. I do this by taking a supportive and educational approach to our counseling relationship. I want you to learn how to help yourself in all of the areas of your life to bring about your intended goals while I also empower you to press beyond the difficulty.

As individuals, we all strive for a sense of purpose and fulfillment. One of the purposes in my life was found when I answered God’s call to youth ministry. Here I’ve found myself meaningfully engaged with children and have developed a special interest and love for helping all ages. After over a decade of youth teaching, I firmly believe children need an opportunity and safe space to share their feelings. I am prepared to be their advocate and sounding board, strongly believing we need them as much as they need us.

In counseling, I enjoy focusing on integrating evidence-based approaches such as psychoeducational and cognitive behavioral therapy to help manage your many options and thoughts. No matter how old you are, I aim to help you recognize and use your abilities, passion, and resources through proven effective strategies. Using these methods, I hope to uplift you and guide you by keeping things so practical that you learn how to uplift yourself as well. I believe the therapeutic relationship should be genuine, collaborative, and include a sense of safety and support. I want to work with you to find helpful adaptive habits that lead to more meaningful and fulfilling results.

The most valuable thing I would love for you to know is this– I’m here to help.
You are worthy of respect, compassion, and honesty so should have a space where you are free to express and own the intrinsic value inside you. Let’s work together to help you see it.
