Youth Issues
Kids should be empowered to succeed in life but sometimes life doesn’t give them the fair shake they deserve. Our youth counselors work together with the family to build trust and appreciation of the thankless task it takes to raise a new generation. This process may be quick and easy, but many times it is slow and difficult. However the pace, change will require commitment, consistency, intentionality, and diligence. Through it all, we are careful to celebrate every victory, big or small, to build confidence and hope for the future of your child or teenager.
It’s important to protect children and youth from losing ground academically while receiving services. So we are intentional to include discussion of academic progress in therapy and communicate with the youth’s school about their academic functioning as needed. We’ll also assist in the coordination of an individual education plan (IEP) for those whose care, treatment, or services cause a significant absence from school.
Different methods of counseling for youth include play therapy, sharing thoughts, understanding and naming feelings, healthy emotional expression, replacing unhealthy coping skills with healthier strategies, and identifying positive choices for negative situations. Ultimately our intention is for your child or teen to thrive through what they’ve been through so they can have the bright future you imagine for them.
